REGAN S.xraary ww r LINDA CULPEPPER NORTH CAROLINA afro:tcl Environmental Quality December 10, 2019 Pfizer Attn: Chuck Powell, Environmental Health & Safety 4300 Oak Park Rd Sanford NC 27330-9550 Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Wyeth Security Building SFR Permit No. NCG551038 Lee County Dear Mr. Powell: On November 13, 2019, Joan Schneier from the Raleigh Regional Office visited your single- family residence (SFR) wastewater treatment system to evaluate compliance with the above pen -nit to discharge wastewater. The assistance from you and Connor Jarvis during the inspection was greatly appreciated. The checked boxes below show what conditions were noted at your facility: ® In compliance: You are reminded to regularly maintain the chlorine disinfection system, have the effluent sampled once a year (if it is present), and have the septic tank pumped out every 3 to 5 years. ® Other: Please run your system for a long time at least once a year to verify that effluent does exit and the outlet pipe is not blocked or broken. Also please check the chlorinator and dechlorinator once in a while to verify that your contractor is maintaining tablets in the system. If you have questions or comments about this inspection or the requirements to take corrective action, please contact Joan Schneier or me at 9 l 9-791-4200 or joan.schneier c nedenr.gov or scott.vinson ct,ncdenr.gov. ;1 rirt(.ur'li•..f).f.erhrtrt )fFn'.-r'•rtl+lt•tl(,?rttlry f)r:",i,nfit 6LttVific-StFw!c, ✓f" R1;.•r,f1U yina'0! r A'100!'i rtttp'•-C. All flow is by gravity. All tank lids were opened for inspection. Chuck Powell and Connor Jarvis of Pfizer assisted during the field inspection and record review. Addition of tablets, septic tank cleanouts, and quarterly attempts (all unsuccessful) to find flow to sample were all documented. The facility seems to have very high standards for cleanliness, safety, and documentation. A high TSS in 2010 was attributed to a partial outlet pipe blockage by soil.Procedures are now in place to clean the pipe area periodically, per permittee. DWR recommends checking the tablet status periodically between additions to be sure there is some substance present and also running enough water to verify that flow is still active through the pipe.
