SUBJECT: Flow Increase - Wastewater Treatment Plant
Town of Old Fort
McDowell County, North Carolina
The Town of Old Fort has requested a "Special Order by Consent" to
increase the wastewater flow to the Town's Wastewater Treatment Plant
by approximately 1200 GPD from a proposed elderly housing project con-
sisting of eight one-bedroom apartment units. A copy of the letter
request is attached. It is requested that Old Fort's wasteload alloca-
tion be reviewed for the additional flow.
The present facility is designed for 200,000 GPD and is overloaded
substantially. Wet weather flows have been more than twice the capacity.
It is proposed to construct new facilities (through 201 funds) with a
total design of 400,000 GPD. This construction will apparently not take
place until after 1984.

Farmers Home Administration requires evidence of approval of sewer
disposal by the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Com-Z
munity Development, prior to loan rinsing, but have made an exception Eli
this instance, following a phone conversation with Mr. Roy Davis and Mr.
Gary Tweed of the Western Regional Office of the North Carolina Department
of Natural Resources and Community Development in Asheville, N. G. They
advised the Town no request this agreement whereby the Town would be al-
lowed no make the eight sewer Caps for the apartments.
I am enclosing a sheet of informaLion an the apartment units furnished
by Mr. A. C. Hogan for your enUghterment, Mr. Hagan has constructed twelve
such apartments in the Town of Old Fart previously, they are very attractive,

individuals, which was non-uxinteut prior to that time.
