After receipt of the extended Special Order of Consent (SOC) by the Environmental Management Commision, Pilot Creek has submitted quarterly Status Reports; informing the State, of ongoing efforts made to reduce thallium in the collection system for the City of Kings Mountain. These reports will be submitted quarterly until May 31, 2020, as stated in the Scheduled Activity section, Section 2. (b). Coremetech and City of KM TI data to date: The following monthly data has been collected from December 2017 until January 2019 regarding testing results for Cormetech and the POTW's effluent sampling events: Coremetch TI Results KM TI Results Stea Coremetech Pro ress Reports: Cormetech continues to submit monthly status reports to the City which contains their plans in reducing thallium at the facility. All reports have been received by the Pretreatment Department on -time. 12/19/18: Progress report received for 11/16/18-12/17/18 period. 02/17/19: Progress report received for 12/18/18-01/16/19 period. 02/20/19: Progress report received for 01/17/19-02/15/19 period. Additional information 01/16/2019: NOV response received from the City sampling event for July -December 2018, sample date 08/01/2018. This violation was issued due to a limit exceedance on arsenic. Jason Davis (Pretreatment analyst) requested further information on the As exceedance. Coremetech believes the non-compliance was due to an operator error. The City requested operator training documentation. 01/29/19: Received operator personnel training document from Lanette Plyler at Coremetech. 02/05/19: Phone conference with Shealy Environmental Laboratory and Cormetech to discuss detection limits and L=s for a better understanding of the two. 02/11/19: Meeting held at The City's public works with Lanette Plyler, Ryan Abernathy, Richelle Meek, Ricky Duncan to discuss detection limits, process improvements and re -submitting revise reports. The City requested all IDMR's with wrong detection limits to be revised upon receipt from Sheally Lab. A new conveyor belt and rollers were installed on the belt press at Pilot Creek. Belt press begin running again on 01/3/19. Pilot Creek WWTP continues to operate the belt press as much as possible to remove metals in the system(s). We are also trying to address the electrical issue at the plant in order to install mixers in the basins. We will continue to operate the belt press in order to reduce the amounts of solids in the system. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime.
