PROJECT SUMMARY: The applicant proposes to construct 3' by 32' catwalk to access an existing boatslip. Wayne W. Woolard Beaufort County Project setting The project is located at 122 Catnip Point in the Catnip Point Subdivision on Bath Creek in the Town of Bath in Beaufort County, North Carolina. The applicant's property is developed with a bulkhead, house, pier and 2 boathouses. The existing boathouses and pier were permitted by CAMA Major permit No. 229-86 which was issued on 5 December 1986. The site is vegetated with lawn grass, cypress and several mixed hardwoods, pines and ornamental shrubs. The site elevation is ±13.5' above the MSL and the property is ±156' wide at the creek interface. The current square footage total for the existing platforms and catwalk is ±496.1 ft2. The property is bordered on the upstream (north) side by a developed lot with a house, bulkhead, pier and boat lifts. This property is vegetated with several hardwoods, pines, ornamental shrubs and lawn grass. The downstream (south) property is an undeveloped lot that is vegetated with ScirTpp. and Typha pp. at the waterline and pines, hardwoods and lawn grass on the upland portion of the site. Bath Creek is classified as SC-NSW by the Environmental Management Commission. Bath Creek at the project site is an inland PNA and is not open to shell fishing. Project description The applicant proposes to construct an approximately 3' wide by 32' long catwalk around an existing boatslip. Anticipated impacts The project as proposed will result in the shading of ±96 ft2 of creek bottom associated with the catwalk. The project as proposed will result in localized turbidity as a result of the construction activities. David W. Moye - 2 November 1998 Form DCM-MP-1 APPLICATION (To be completed by all applicants) 1.
