On February 9, 2017 Glen White of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality —
Division of Energy, Minerals and Land Resources visited the facility located at 313 New Cut
Road in Thomasville, to conduct a compliance inspection. This inspection consists of review of
the facility outfalls and possible exposures. Your assistance with this inspection is greatly
appreciated. A prior partial inspection was conducted in October 13, 2016 with Ms. Belinda
Milan's assistance. At that time records review was completed and found to be compliant.
Permit:
This facility holds General Stormwater Permit NCG210295 to discharge stormwater from
industrial activity associated with Lumber and Wood Products, Except Furniture [SIC 241
under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). The permit became
effective August 01, 2013 and expires on July 31, 2018. The current permit was available for
review and was included in the SPPP.
Records/Reports:
This facility was required to develop and maintain a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
(SPPP) in accordance with Part 1I, Section A of the permit. All qualitative and analytical
monitoring records are required to be maintained with the SPPP for a minimum of five (5) years.
Records appear to be current and complete.
Facility Site Review:
This facility is a lumber yard and dry kiln operation. Most of the product is prepared directly for
the client. This yard processes hard wood only. Product is used in furniture production in many
parts of the world. Much of the lumber is shipped to Australia. Sawdust is captured in semi-
trailers and used to create heat for the kilns. Excess sawdust that is in excess of what can be held
in trailers is stored on concrete and again used in heating the kilns.

This yard has two (2) outfalls on its stormwater permit and three (3) outfalls on its wastewater
permit. The wastewater treatment facilities include a sand filtration system. Effluent from the
system drains into a small bottle near the creek. Effluent is very clear. Results have consistently
sampled within parameters.
Effluent Receiving Waters:
Effluent from this facility drains to flat Swamp Creek, Class "B", waters of the Yadkin Pee -Dee
River Basin.
Self -Monitoring Program:
This facility is required to provide Qualitative Monitoring twice annually. No Analytical
Monitoring is required per the stormwater permit under current operating procedures. The
facility was found to be compliant with its industrial stormwater permit. If you have questions or

On October 13, 2016 Glen White of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality;
Department of Energy, Minerals, and Land Resources visited the facility located 313New Cut Rd
in Thomasville, to conduct a compliance inspection. You were unable to attend due to a family
issue. Ms. Belinda Milan assist the inspector with review of the records. Inspection typically
consists of review of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, training, monitoring and spills
records as well as observation of the general condition of the site. The site review and more
complete document review will be completed at a later date.
