Ms. Scott,
West Fraser, Inc. — Armour Lumber Mill added a new outfall, SDO 003, during our last
update to our Integrated Spill Response Plan (ISRP). This is a small ditch in our
Shipping department that stays dry except during rain events.
The analytical results for TSS for outfall SDO 003 shows benchmark exceedences for 4
or more occasions. We have tried various corrective measures to minimize the TSS by
adding rock dams and also straw bales, to assist with the minimization of TSS before
leaving the plant site. We are now looking into other methods to minimize the TSS since
we have now exceeded another analytical testing.
We are now looking into other methods to minimize the TSS since we have now
exceeded another analytical testing. Such applications are Ultra-X-Tex material that has
been used successfully for oil absorbent at many of our other WF Operations, in efforts to
reduce TSS levels.
Should you have any other methods worth trying of note, that have proven successfully in
the past, please contact Mrs. Michelle Potter, E14S Supervisor at 910-655-4106 x 242, or
myself at the contact number listed below.
Respectfully Submitted,
