Metal Works located at 4675 US Highway 64 East, Unit 16 in Franklinville, Randolph County Your facility holds General Stormwater Permit No NCG200474 to discharge Stormwater from activities involving the wholesale trade of scrap metal under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) This type of inspection consists of two basic parts a review of facility files and self -monitoring became effective January 1, 2010 and will expire December 31, 2014 2 Facility Site Review This facility was originally owned by Hard Core Recycling, but was recently purchased by Hayes Iron & Metal Hayes Iron & Metal applied for and was granted this permit on November 19, 2010 The site has three large outdoor storage containers for scrap metal There is also outside storage of wood and plastic amounts as there is no storage available with our limited space We keep two roll off contamei s for these and they are trucked up to our Providence North Carolina facility As far as any "hazardous" materials we accept batteries and sealed units at this location hese are stored in a controlled environment, the following is the handling procedure for each note these are accepted ISRA procedures (institute of Scrap Recycling Industries) Batteries these are brought into our facility by our customers and placed on our scale, form the scale they are Immediately placed on a palette and are stacked no more than three (3) high, cardboard is placed on the bottom layer and in between each level They are then wrapped in plastic wrap and stored for shipment We Ship out 40 000 pounds (+-)
