RE: NCG200468 - Horton Iron & Metal Co. - Sept 17, 2010.
Hi Linda,
I hadn't heard from you so I'm going to go ahead and issue this permit unless you know something else about the site
and feel like I shouldn't. I feel like the general permit is actually pretty protective since we renewed it so I don't feel like
an individual permit would be more appropriate. If they do exceed these benchmarks we could ask for one as
necessary.
If you want me to hold it up, let me know (today if possible) and I will. Otherwise I'll go ahead and issue it.
Thanks,
Jen

Subject: NCG200468 - Horton Iron & Metal Co. - Sept 17, 2010.
Hi Linda,
We've received an NO] From Horton Iron & iMetal Company for their scrap metal recycling Facility in Wilmingron
C.(Nc-v 1-lanover County) For coverage under NCG20 (scrap metal recycling permit). The site discharges stormwater
into the Northeast Cape Fear Riser Creek ( SC, S,,v). The NO1 is attached.
This section of the Cape Fear River is on the 303D list for cooper violations / aquatic life. However, the
general permit tests for a lot of metals parameters (including copper) and COD (below) and has the tiered
system'in place so I think that is pretty reasonable and I'm not sure an individual permit .would help out
any more.
