The only activity performed at this location is processing of Reclaimed Asphalt Shingles (RAS). Piles of shingles and RAS were observed. Stormwater migrates to a centrally located storm drain that is surrounded by filter booms and riprap. The runoff water is collected in a retention basin. The retention basin is equipped with an overflow drain that discharges to a smaller basin. The water level in the first and larger retention basin was approximately four feet below the overflow drain. Rainwater may collect in the in the smaller basin. No sediment or oil sheen was observed in the water collected in either of the basins. Mr. Riley and Mr. Martin, of Sharpe Brothers of Vecellio/Grogan, stated that they have not observed a discharge from the retention basin. The storm water Pollution Prevention Plan/ Spill plan(SPPP) was made available for review and appeared to be complete. Employee training records are maintained at a corporate office. Routinely only one employee is stationed at this facility. The facility does not store large volumes of liquid on site. All above ground storage tanks have been removed. The SPP is being updated to reflect the removal of ASTs. No vehicle maintenance is conducted on the property. The facility has contracted with Prism Laboratories, Inc. to conduct monitoring. On March 31, 2014, Qualitative and Analytical samples from outfall #001 were documented. Total Suspended Solids results were 44mg/L and below benchmark requirements. On January 3, 2017, the City of Greensboro Stormwater Management Division completed an inspection at Sharpe Brothers. The deficiencies observed by McKenzie Smith appeared to have been addressed and no deficiences were observed on July 28, 2017.
