Your facility is currently covered [or stormwater discharge under General Permit NCG050000. This permit expires
on Augusl 31, 2002. The Division staff is currently in the process of rewriting this permit and is SChednled to have
the permit reissued by late summer ol'2002. Once the permit is reissued, your facility would he eligible for
continued cowerage under the reissued permit.
In order to assure your continued covcra,c under the 4"encrrrl permit, you must apply to the Division of Water
Quality (DWO) for renewal of your permit coverage. To make this renewal process easier, We are inforn►inl you in
advance that your hermit will be expiring. Ef4CIOSCd you Will find it General Permit Coverage Renewal
Application Form. ']'he applicalion must he completed and returned by March 4, 2002 in order to assure continued
coverage under the general permit.
Failure to request renewal within this tinic period may result in a civil assessment of at least $250.00- Larger
penalties may he assessed depending on the delinquency of the request. Discharge of stormwater from your facility
without coverage under a valid stornnvatcr NPUES permit would constitute if violation of NCGS 143-21 5.1 and
could result in assessments of civil I)enallies nl' up to $10.000 per day.
Please note that recent federal leLlislation has extended the "no cxpnsurc exclusion" to all of industrial
facilities in an)' of the I I categories of "storm water discharges associated with industrial activity," (except
construction activities). ll' you feel your facility can certify a condition of "no exposure", i.e. the facilty industrial
materials and operations are not exposed to stornnvater, you can apply for the no exposure exclusion. For additional
