Replace Bridge 320054 which is structurally deficient per current NCDOT standards with a new bridge meeting these standards.

Replace Bridge 320054 which is structurally deficient per current NCDOT standards with a new bridge meeting these standards. There will perm. stream impacts related to the
construction of 2 interior bents and stream bank stabilization and some temp impacts related to work bridges and old bridge bent removal. Heavy road and bridge building equipment will
be used.

The new bridge has less bents in the water.

All construction equipment Wil be staged and operated from upland areas. DOT will also install silt fencing to protect the streams and wetlands
adjacent to the project. Safety fencing will be used to delineate jurisdictional and environmentally sensitive areas from encroachment.

IPAC lists Red -cockaded Woodpecker Picoides borealis, Neuse River Waterdog Necturus lewisi, Carolina Madtom Noturus furiosus, Atlantic Pigtoe
Fusconaia masoni, and Tar River Spinymussel Elliptio steinstansana.
Additioanally NMFS has designated the Tar River critical habitat for Atlantic Sturgeon Acipenser oxyrinchus oxyrinchus
-Red-cockaded Woodpecker Picoides borealis- no habitat, no occurrences within a mile, no affect
-Neuse River Waterdog Necturus lewisk not currently listed, found within project area in 2018, NCDOT is working on a programmatic that will address
this species, the appropriate biological conclusions, and the required mitigation prior to its formal listing, at the time of its formal listing NCDOT make
the appropriate biological conclusion according to the programmatic and will adhere to the required mitigation in the programmatic in order to comply
with section 7.
-Carolina Madtom Noturus furiosus- not currently listed, found roughly 18 river miles downstream in 2007 , NCDOT is working on a programmatic that
will address this species, the appropriate biological conclusions, and the required mitigation prior to its formal listing, at the time of its formal listing
NCDOT make the appropriate biological conclusion according to the programmatic and will adhere to the required mitigation in the programmatic in
order to comply with section 7.
