Condition Part I, A. (4.)
In accordance with NPDES Permit NC0089109 issued to American Zinc
Products (AZP) in Rutherford County, NC effective June 1, 2019, attached is the
monitoring plan developed for the collection, preparation and chemical analysis
of fish tissue samples collected from the Broad River upstream and downstream
of AZP's permitted discharge outfall. This plan is submitted in response to the
requirement as described in Part I, A. (4.) of the referenced NPDES Permit.
The plan includes the identification of certified labs that may be used for the
analytical evaluation of samples. Also included are possible contractors for the
performance of fish collection and sample preservation. This doesn't represent
any commitment on the part of AZP to use these contractors or labs. AZP will
select appropriate service providers and conduct the monitoring in accordance
with the approved monitoring plan.
Following agency approval, AZP will follow the plan to perform monitoring within
the current permit cycle and secure results for submittal to the Division with the
Company's requested renewal of the NPDES Permit.
