The subject proposals have been reviewed and recommendations are offered
Willis Seafood Inc proposes to nose fish and shrimp and discharge the water to
Bogue Sound It is recommended that coverage be given for this activity
J A Milliken Oyster Company proposes to discharge water from washing
oysters It is unclear if ouster shucking is also to be done on the site No measures
are proposed for collecting the mud and sand prior to discharging to surface waters
It is further unclear if there is a ditch or stream on the site Telephone calls to the
applicant have not been returned The writer has discussed the proposal with staff
members of Marine Fisheries and Shellfish sanitation and will continue to gather
information about the proposed activity It is recommended that coverage not be
given until further information is gathered _
The NOIs and Mining Permit Applications for Clemmons Dirt Pit and for
Royal Oak Mine have been reviewed The nine sites are in very close proximity
