Replace Bridge 500145 which is structurally deficient per current NCDOT standards with a new bridge meeting these standards. A new alignment will be utilized which will improve how
government road ties into Barber Mill Road. Heavy road and bridge building equipment will be used.
41. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:
Replace Bridge 500145 which is structurally deficient per current NCDOT standards with a new bridge meeting these standards. A new alignment will be utilized which will improve how
government road ties into Barber Mill Road. Additionally the old bridge and roadway will be removed and a portion of the roadway fill will be removed as well to restore some of the
buffer to Swift Creek. The only impacts will be clearing the new roadway alignment and some streambank stablization along the outside bend in the creek under the new structure. The
new bridge will completely span the creek. Some temp impacts will associated with removal of old bridge. Heavy road and bridge building equipment will be used.

The new bridge will completely span the creek. Gary and/or Travis was involved during scoping to discuss alignment and extent of old roadway fill
removal.

All construction equipment will be staged and operated from upland areas. DOT will also install silt fencing to protect the streams and wetlands
adjacent to the project. Safety fencing will be used to delineate jurisdictional and environmentally sensitive areas from encroachment.

PAC lists Red -cockaded Woodpecker Picoides borealis, Neuse River Waterdog Necturus lewisi, Carolina Madtom Noturus furiosus, Atlantic Pigtoe
Fusconaia masoni, Dwarf Wedgemussel Alasmidonta heterodon, Yellow Lance Elliptio lanceolate, and Michaux's Sumac Rhus michauxii.
-Red-cockaded Woodpecker Picoides borealis- no habitat, no occurrences within a mile, no affect
-Neuse River Waterdog Necturus lewisi- not currently listed, found within project area in 2016, NCDOT is working on a programmatic that will address
this species, the appropriate biological conclusions, and the required mitigation prior to its formal listing, at the time of its formal listing NCDOT make
the appropriate biological conclusion according to the programmatic and will adhere to the required mitigation in the programmatic in order to comply
with section 7.
-Carolina Madtom Noturus furiosus- not currently listed, found roughly 10 river miles downstream in the 1980's , NCDOT is working on a programmatic
that will address this species, the appropriate biological conclusions, and the required mitigation prior to its formal listing, at the time of its formal listing
