HomeMy WebLinkAbout20191555 Ver 1_B36 - Cherokee County - BIA CE Document_20191112Categorical Exclusion Checklist Project: Bridge Replacement Webb Creek (B36) Date: 7/17/2019 Proposed Action: The North Carolina Department of Transpa tation (NCDOT) is planning a project to replace Bridge No. 36 over Webb Creek (Webb Creek Road SR 1384). While replacement activities are occurring the NCDOT will need to temporarily detour traffic in the area. To move forward with the project a timber permit and right-of4ay approval will be needed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Due to the need for federal approval, this project has been reviewed in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act. Environmental impacts from both the timber removal and bridge replacement were considered as part of this review. BIA reviewed and adopted supporting documentation, prepared by NCDOT, the EBCI Tribal Historic Preservation Office and EBCI Natural Resources Office to ensure there were no extraordinary circumstances in accordance with 43 CFR §46.215.
