As requested, cross -sections of Gunpowder Creek at and below the
wastewater treatment plant discharge at Granite Falls have been
recorded and are attached hereto for your evaluation. Three (3)
stream cross -sections are provided along with information regarding
"Little Dam" (as so named on the USGS quadrangle map). The cross -
sections are numbered and keyed to the locations shown on a copy of
the USGS map.
As a matter of explanation, the 3' depth at the POTW discharge, as
compared to the 2.5' depth further downstream, may be artificially
deep because of scouring action of the years. Also, the water over-
flows the full 127' width of "Little Dam" thereby allowing a greater
potential for re -aeration.
