SUBJECT: Coal Combustion Residuals Surface Impoundments in Members' Districts
DATE: September 6, 2018
Pursuant to GS 130A-309.204(b), "on or before October 1 of each year, the Department shall report
to each member of the General Assembly who has a coal combustion residuals surface
impoundment in the member's district. This report shall include the location of each impoundment
in the member's district, the amount of coal combustion residuals known or believed to be located
in the impoundment, the last action taken at the impoundment, and the date of that last action."
Comments concerning the 2018 annual report are as follows:
• All volumes were provided by Duke Energy as of September 5, 2018.
• Coal Ash Ponds are sorted by NC House District and NC Senate District.
• The table "Summary of Last Action Taken" covers many programs and lists multiple
actions in summary fashion.
The attached report satisfies this reporting requirement.
