On September 24, 1998, I met with you at the proposed site of the new irrigation pond for the Hidden Valley
Country Club and Golf Course. At your request, an evaluation of the feature forming and exiting the pond
was performed to determine whether the site would require compliance with the Neuse Riparian Buffer
Rules. This project is referenced by this Office as NBR-RRO 091.
After a review and comparison of the United States Geological Survey topographic maps and the Soil Survey
of Wake County against the Neuse River Basin Map, it has been determined that the pond and stream on the
subject property are located in the Cape Fear River Basin, and as such are not subject to the Riparian Buffer
Rules which protect stream buffers only within the Neuse River Basin.
F Please note, depending on the linear feet or acreage involved in this project, there may be jurisdictional
wetlands or waters that may require concurrence with the Corps of Engineers. This letter only addresses the
applicability of the Neuse Buffer Rules.
