Re: Carlyle Woodleif Property; Neuse River Buffer Determination

At your request, I made a site visit to the Carlyle Woodleif property off Rogers
Road near Rolesville in wake County on July 7, 1998. The purpose of the site visit was
to determine presence of any intermittent or perennial stream that would be subject to the
Neuse River Buffer Rules requiring a 50 foot wide vegetated buffer along its banks.
Toward the south end of the property near the boundary between Tract 3 and Tract 4, I
found an intermittent stream that would be subject to the 50 foot wide buffer in the Neuse
River Buffer Rules. The stream begins at a seep approximately 75 feet north of a red
survey pipe. The point of origin was marked with a piece of orange flagging with NBR,
DWQ 7n198 marked on it
I have enclosed a copy of the current Neuse River Buffer Rules that require a foot
wide vegetated buffer along intermittent and perennial streams with existing forest
vegetation within the Neuse River Basin. If you have any questions concerning this
