This office has received the information concerning your sanitary sewer rehabilitation from Rivers &
Associates, Inc, dated November 14, 2013. The phase I and phase II studies indicate that approximately 230,914
GPD of infiltration and inflow was identified during the study. The Town has submitted applications for permit
approval to the Division of Water Infrastructure for the repairs needed to correct the I/1 indicated in the phase I & I1
reports. The repairs will include lining approximately 6,300 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer, lining
approximately 10,100 linear feet of 10-inch gravity sewer, approximately 80 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer point
repairs, approximately 220 linear feet of 10-inch gravity sewer point repairs, cementitious lining of 15 vertical feet
of brick risers, resetting the ring and cover on approximately 28 manholes, and replacing approximately 100 service
laterals.
The Division placed the Town on moratorium on April 17, 2006 for exceeding 80% of their treatment
capacity in accordance with 15A NCAC 02T .0118. The Town's average flow for the 2005 calendar year was
0.2442 MGD or 81.4% of their treatment capacity. The Town's average flow for the 2012 calendar year was
0.186385 MGD or 62% of their treatment capacity. With the I/1 repairs that are going to be made to reduce the 1/1
within the Town this office is removing the Town from under the Moratorium.
