Cormetech has expierenced a spike in thallium for the month of August 2019. No additional information
has been received for this spike from Cormetech. A meeting has been set for October 8 to discuss
thallium along with Mo and Se due to the draft permit received by the POTW.
Coremetech Progress Reports:
Cormetech continues to submit monthly status reports to the City which contains their plans in reducing
thallium at the facility. All reports have been received by the Pretreatment Department on-time.
In the reports submitted by Cormetech, no other actions have taken place to reduce thallium other than
in-house testing and previous submitted information.
Cormetech is under investigation due to an anonymous complaint for falsifying flow data. Once the
investigation is completed a detailed summary will be sent to NCDEQ.
Pilot Creek WWTP continues to operate the belt press as much as possible to remove metals in the
system(s). The City of Kings Mountain is in the process of having all internal components of our#3 and
#4 clarifiers replaced for optimal performance .The City is still looking into addressing the power issue
at the facility in order to install mixers in each of the basins.
The City has contacted Joe McGougan, a engineer,to assist in developing a plan to reduce metals and
achieve optimum performance for the facility.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime.
Sincerely,
