Inspection Summary:
A follow-up inspection to the NOD issued on August 30, 2019, to Linda Twiggs of 1731 East Rd. Walnut Cove, NC 27052,
was conducted on October 17, 2019 by DWR staff person Justin Henderson. The purpose of this follow-up inspection was to
evaluate stabilization measures, implemented on behalf of Ms. Twiggs, to abate sediment loss that had been resulting post
grading activties at the site. Two areas on the property had been graded and were determined to be the sources of the
sediment discharge. The upslope area surrounding the new building had been completely statbized with grass and/or
seeding & matttng. There was no evidence of a potential reoccurring sediment loss from this site. The downslope site had
been surrouding by brush and other tree debris to act as a sediment filter to temporarily prevent additional sediment loss
until the site could be seeded for permanent stabilization. No evidence of continuing sediment loss from this site was noted
during this inspection. There were still a couple of areas of sediment accumulation in the waterway/drainageway that
provided the route for the intial discharge of sediment. This sediment must be removed or otherwise stabilized to prevent
future sediment loss from resulting in additional discharges. Ms. Wiggs son-in-law Mr. Duncan meet with Justin Henderson
on site during this inspection and aggreed to remove or stablize the remaining sediment accumulations located in the
drainageway. Mr. Wiggs indicated this would be completed within the next two weeks at which time he would notify Mr.
Henderson to allow a potential close-out inspection for this matter to be conducted.
