Subject: Beasley Site - questions
Hi Ian,
I hope you are well. I am reviewing the Beasley Site project (WNC Stream Initiative), and I've a few questions:
I'm assuming you are working in the wet. It's going to be pretty messy. Is there any way to divert
flows from some of the messier in -channel work (e.g., bank tie-in locations for structures)? Work will
be performed from the bank as much as possible however working in the wet will be necessary at times
including structure installation. When feasible, the engineer will instruct the contractor to use onsite
materials (rock, logs, etc.) to create temporary diversion structures immediately above areas of active
in -stream work to divert flow.
Am seeing if you need to observe a trout moratorium; the good news is that the pond is downstream of
your project to mitigate turbidity. We have also applied for a trout buffer variance and are working
with Melissa King at the Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources.
How wide will your planted woody buffer be? I see it varies in width, but can you let me know what
the range and approximate average width is? The planted woody buffer will range from 10 to 35 feet
with an approximate average width of 25 feet.
Have a great weekend.
Andrea
