Just to follow-up from our Bethel Branch As -Built walkthrough visit please see my comments below: • No flagging of stems were observed in the two monitoring plots, and markers identifying the plot corners were not clearly observed. Therefore it was difficult to find planted stems. Per the BPDP, all stems need to be flagged in the plots with plot boundaries clearly marked. • Many bare areas were noted within the buffer restoration area of the old pond bottom. These bare areas lacked seeding, straw and trees. These areas need to be seeded, stabilized with straw and planted in trees approved in the planting plan. • Due to dense herbaceous vegetation, you and I could not successfully locate planted stems within the buffer restoration areas of the old pond bottom or along the ephemeral channel. Therefore, Wildlands need to provide 4-5 transects, of appropriate sizing and shape, that include the quantity and species of each planted tree in order for DWR to confirm these areas were planted at the density noted in the AsBuilt Report. • All cattle exclusion fencing and stream construction activities had been completed. Upon receiving documentation, included site photos, that all items above have been addressed, DWR can further evaluate the status of completion of the mitigation site earthwork and installation of plots in accordance with the approved BPDP.
