Dear Mr. King, 

The Solid Waste Section (Section) has reviewed the Life of Site Design Hydrogeologic Study 
Work Plan (DIN 27859) submitted on your behalf by Garrett & Moore on June 1, 2017.  The 
Section approves this work plan.   

The work plan proposes the installation of nineteen (19) Type II piezometers to further 
understand the hydrogeological conditions in the expansion area.  These piezometers shall be 
installed in accordance with 15A NCAC Subchapter 2C.  Piezometers B‐42, B‐44 and B‐46S will 
be converted to monitoring wells and shall be constructed with a locking steel casing and 
concrete pad.  Submit well construction records (Form GW‐1b) and boring logs for each 
piezometer after the installation process is complete. 

The work plan also proposes the abandonment of piezometers in the Phase 5 area.  Nine (9) 
piezometers and one (1) monitoring well (MW‐8) will be abandoned.  Monitoring MW‐8R will 
be relocated and converted from existing piezometer PZ‐2S.  Submit well abandonment records 
(Form GW‐30) for all piezometers and monitoring wells after the abandonment process is 
complete.
