This drilling request is in effort to satisfy USEPA Hazardous and Solid Waste Management System; Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals From Electric Utilities (USEPA CCR) 40 CFR Part 257.91. Currently, fourteen (14) groundwater monitoring wells are intended to be installed in the approximate locations shown on the attached drawing titled "Proposed CCR Monitoring Well Locations". Upon completion of monitoring well installation, Duke Energy will submit a well installation completion package to the Division noting actual well locations and depths including drilling logs. In addition, approximately six (6) existing wells are likely to be utilized as part of this landfill CCR monitoring network. The existing wells which are planned to be incorporated into the network are also indicated with text boxes on the attached figure. Installation of additional background and downgradient monitoring wells is also planned around the station’s ash basin system to be included in the site-wide, multi- unit groundwater monitoring network for the CCR Rule. This request is being submitted electronically. Please let me know if you would like to receive paper copies.
