Industrial Waste Landfill Annual Report
Dear Mr. Jernigan:
Attached is the completed Industrial Landfill Annual Report form for Duke Energy’s Belews Creek
Steam Station FGD Residual Landfill (Permit No. 8505) for the past year (7/1/2013 – 6/30/2014). The landfill only accepts waste from Duke Energy’s Belews Creek Steam Station. The FGD landfill had
a gross acceptance of 250,858.7 tons over the most recent 12 months which was reduced by a removal (mining gypsum for sales) of 3,955 tons, resulting in a net disposal of 246,903.7 tons. The Facility
Annual Report represents net monthly disposal amounts. Mining activities were conducted with the
approval of the Solid Waste Section. Since the landfill went into operation and through the most recent survey on April 16, 2014, approximately 878,119 cubic yards and 1,279,580.55 tons of waste have been
disposed in the landfill.
As required by G.S. 130A-309.09D(b), the County Manager for any county that generated waste for
disposal to this landfill is sent a copy of the Annual Report. Therefore, a copy of this Annual Report is being provided to the County Manager for Stokes County.
