Dear Mr. Hill:

The Solid Waste Section (Section) has reviewed the letter requesting to install a new background well at
the Austin Quarter Road MSW Landfill submitted on your behalf by Municipal Engineering Services
Company, P.A. on October 4, 2016 (DIN 26808). The letter also requests to abandon the current
background well, MW-50R, located in the footprint of future Phase 3. The Section approves the
installation of the new background well, MW-BG. However, the Section recommends not abandoning
MW-50R until Phase 3 is ready to be constructed.
