VAN DER VAART Secretary MICHAEL SCOTT Director State of North Carolina | Environmental Quality | Waste Management 1646 Mail Service Center | 217 West Jones Street | Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1646 919 707 8200 T June 16, 2016 Ms. Tyler Hardin, Environmental Services Duke Energy Corporation 526 Church Street, Mail Code EC13K Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 Subject: Waste Stream Modification, Approval Permit No. 1812-INDUS-2008, Duke Energy Marshall Steam Station Catawba County, DIN 26272 Dear Ms. Hardin: On June 15, 2016 the Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section (Section) received Duke Energy’s waste stream modification request for Permit No. 1812-INDUS-2008, entitled: Industrial Landfill No.1 Waste Stream Modification, Permit No. 1812-INDUS, Marshall Steam Station, Catawba County, Terrell, North Carolina 28682. Prepared by Duke Energy. June 2016. DIN 26264. The request concerns change to the list of materials that may be accepted by the landfill, including; the addition of waste coal and changing the term “sand blast material” to “abrasive blast material”, a more accurate description. The Section has reviewed the request and approves the change in the operations plan as requested. Duke Energy will consider the request, referenced above (DIN 26264), as an approved document. The next time Permit No. 1812-INDUS-2008 is amended Duke Energy will provide the Section with an updated Operations Plan containing the changes approved by this letter.
