A site location map is provided as Figure 1. Site layout map depicting monitoring well locations and the blasting area is provided as Figure 2. 1.0 Site Description & Background The subject Site is operated by GWSNM under Solid Waste Facility Permit Number 60-13. The landfill facility address is 15300 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville, North Carolina (Site). As shown in Figure 2, the landfill contains two disposal areas: the Infill Area and the Closed Phase I Area. The currently active Infill Area is situated in the northern portion of the landfill property. The boundaries of the Infill Area include additional GWSNM landfill property as well as land owned by Mecklenburg County, including the David B. Waymer Flying Regional Park (a former unlined municipal solid waste landfill - Holbrooks Road Landfill) to the north and east. An unnamed tributary of Cane Creek bounds the Infill Area to the south, beyond which lies the Closed Phase I Area C&D landfill. The west and northwest boundaries include private property, a Colonial Pipeline easement, and land owned by the Town of Huntersville. B Gfift ftthm& GreenWo lUoste Solutions In late August 2023, State Utility Contractors, Inc. (SU) informed GWSNM that shallow bedrock blasting would be required near the southeast side of the Closed Phase I Area for the installation of a municipal sewer line. The area in question is located approximately 350 feet east of compliance monitoring wells MW-4, MW-4A, MW-41), and MW-413-1, and approximately 350 feet south of compliance monitoring wells MW-6, MW-61), and MW-6D-1. GWSNM immediately contacted North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Solid Waste Section (DEQ) via phone to provide an update. DEQ requested that GWSNM monitor water levels in the above -mentioned monitoring wells immediately before and after blasting activities, as well as one week after blasting, to ensure that blasting activities did not affect local hydrogeologic conditions. 2.0 Methodology & Results Blasting activities were conducted on September 6, 2023. GWSNM personnel were on -site to collect water level measurements and observe blasting activities. Depth -to -water measurements were collected with a decontaminated electronic water level meter from MW-4, MW-4A, MW- 4D, MW-4D-1, MW-6, MW-61), and MW-613-1 relative to the surveyed top of casing of each monitoring well immediately before and immediately after each blasting event. Water level measurements were then conducted on September 13, 2023, which was seven days after the blasting event. A table detailing this groundwater elevation data as well as select monthly well gauging data is provided as Table 1. The results indicate that water level elevations in all monitored wells show no significant change following blasting activities. B Grift G.thm & GreenWo lUoste Solutions 2 3.0 Conclusions Blasting activities associated with the installation of a municipal sewer line adjacent to the Greenway Waste Solutions at North Meck C&D Landfill were conducted on September 6, 2023. Water level measurements were collected from proximal monitoring wells MW-4, MW-4A, MW-4D, MW-4D-1, MW-6, MW-6D, and MW-6D-1 immediately before and immediately after each blasting event, as well as seven days after the blasting event. As shown in Table 1, groundwater elevations remained generally stable during blasting activities. Additionally, groundwater was not observed in the area of blasting.
