Charlotte, NC 28201-1006 To support the Dry Ash Landfill Phase II (1804-INDUS-1983) geosynthetic cap and stability feature construction activities at the Marshall Steam Station, Duke Energy requests approval to abandon groundwater monitoring well MW-3 located upgradient of the landfill and within the ash basin waste boundary. The attached Figure (Figure 2 Sample Locations) has the monitoring well, MW-3, requested for abandonment circled in yellow. Abandonment of the monitoring well will be supervised by qualified geotechnical field support that is under the direct supervision of and in contact with a Licensed Geologist. The piezometer will be abandoned by a North Carolina licensed well contractor in accordance with subchapter 02C of the North Carolina Administrative Code. Duke Energy will provide well abandonment records to the Division upon completion of the field work.
