NAME OF FACILITY: Wall Recycling Rowland LCID PERMIT# 92M-LCID DATE AND TIME OF FIRE: 11-25-2022 @ 3:35AM HOW WAS THE FIRE REPORTED AND BY WHOM: Raleigh Fire Department called Dustin Hill at 3:35am, (Raleigh Fire department under coverage contract from New Hope FD). Dan Jarboe provided 24 hr Notice to Drew Ha=ond and to Tim Davis NCDEQ. 11-25-22 at 6:05PM. LIST ACTIONS TAKEN: Fire department cleared the property to Mr.Dustin Hill he activited employees to start working Fire in the tree debrie area. Using onsite equipment and transporting additional equipment to the site. Expanding exsisting fire breaks and the use of stock pyle soil onsite to contain the fire to stop the fire from spreading. WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE: Raleigh FD, New Hope FD and State Forrestry Service inspected the site they have classified cause ( unknown.) DESCRIBE AREA, TYPE, AND AMOUNT OF WASTE INVOLVED: Area in square approximatly 2 acres, at the end of the event.An estimated 1000yd of tree debris 24 hr Notice states approximatly I Acre. The estimate given in 15 day reflexs the loss of material. WHAT COULD HA VE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THIS FIRE: Increase number of material inspections, As we currently are placing fire breaks of minimum l 5ft-20ft we have the facility inspected at night at the end of each day including Saturday and Sunday. DESCRIBE PLAN OF ACTIONS TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS: Wall Recycling has closed the facility for the month of December. I. Insure stability of area 2. Discussed potential causes of fire, methods taken to prevent future fires, use of unpermitted (DWM) air curtain incinerator, owners plans to close facility for 30 days and excavate previously disposed material for grinding. Tim Davis attended onsite meeting with Dan Wall and facility staff on 11/28/22 to assess progress made towards extinguishing fire. -TD
