The area is approximately 40 sq ft. The coordinates are; 35 0639 N -78.8672 W. The waste involved is construction debris which will include materials typically used for building purposes. There was no visible evidence of what may have started the fire, however small electronics are finding their way into the landfill areas. The batteries in these items are known to cause fires. Amanda Bader called Mike Renfrow and Tim Middleton. A crew was assembled, the fire was quickly extinguished by hauling dirt and spreading it over the impacted area. Tuesday evening, at around 7:45pm, Amanda Bader returned from a meeting and did a drive around inspection of the landfill before leaving. She discovered smoke visible in the construction and debris landfill, and determined that the C&D landfill had a small fire. Notify the Section verbally within 24 hours and submit written notification within 15 days of the occurrence. (If additional space is needed, use back of this form.)
