1Kirchner, ChuckFrom:Lovett, Richard <[e-mail]>Sent:Tuesday, April 26, 2022 3:59 PMTo:Kirchner, ChuckCc:Deel, David; Marriott, Chris; Deaton, Lorien; Hennis, Mark; Chao, Ming-taiSubject:[External] Transfer station.Attachments:transfer station inspection form.pdfCAUTION: External email. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam.  Chuck,  I wanted to provide you an update on the changes we have initiated at the Greensboro transfer station following NCDEQ recent transfer station assessment letter (4/2022). As with any change to our facilities operations, we will be revising the current operations plan and submitting it for NCDEQ review. But the revised plan will not be complete until we have completed the necessary engineering and operational activities to ensure they fully address the NCDEQs identified concerns. Over the next several weeks we will be selecting and working with an engineering company to develop an actionable schedule to address the concerns identified in the aforementioned letter. The City and the selected engineering company will endeavor to keep the NCDEQ updated as engineered solutions are implemented.  Implemented actions/changes:  Immediately we have implemented an inspection program utilizing the sheet that is attached to this e‐mail. This inspection form will be completed daily and all inspection sheets will be maintained onsite for review.  The wettest trailers tend to be those used in the floor cleaning activities which occur at the end of the day. Those trailers will be left in the tunnels or parked on the tipping floor overnight to ensure proper leachate management should leaks occur.   As noted on the inspection sheet, we will also be documenting and communicating with HILCO trailers that leaks are observed. These trailers that need repairs will be either repaired onsite by Hilco or removed from the site to conduct larger needed repairs.  Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience.  Thank you,
