Scott - Thanks. Attached is a map showing the extent of the groundwater contamination plume at this site, that includes
the proposed compost building area. Landfill gas has also been detected close to the LEL in an area near the proposed
building site. We have concerns with possible landfill gas accumulation in areas of the building, and also the potential
for vapor intrusion from the VOCs in the groundwater below the building. The building should be designed with
adequate ventilation, and appropriate safety measures for these concerns.

Donna,
We were able to add information from CDM to our drawing depicting the location of the piezometers on the compost
site. You are correct in that B-4 is located within the footprint of the proposed compost facility building. We are in the

process of revising the building layout now to avoid conflicts with B-4 and any of the other wells on the site. I will
forward a revised site plan to you once we have completed, most likely in the next day or two. Thanks for your patience.

Hello Scott — Has there been any more information found on the location of piezometer B-4 in the area of the proposed
compost facility building?
It appears from our maps that it is located in the same spot as the proposed compost buildings, and it is listed in
documents as needed for future monitoring of the closed landfills.

As part of the permitting for Ron's compost site, NCDENR has requested that we show the location of several monitoring
wells on the proposed compost site. I have attached a figure sent to us by NCDENR which shows the wells which will be
kept as part of the current groundwater monitoring plan prepared by CDM. Could you send the well locations to us in
AutoCAD so that we could add them to our site plan? We want to confirm that there will not be any conflicts with the
construction of the compost site improvements. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions or need any
additional information.
