Closure Certification for the closed Western Carolina University Landfill

Dear Mr. Comrie:
This letter is being sent as a reminder that WESTERN CAROLINA UNIVERSITY needs
to notify the Solid Waste Section of their assent to the post -closure conditions at the referenced
landfill and that the referenced landfill will be maintained in accordance with the Closure Letter
dated September 5, 1995. Also, the initial five year ground water monitoring period begins on
the date the Solid Waste Section (the Section) receives the Notification letter from the County.
As stated in Condition 8 (c) under WATER QUALITY MONITORING AND REPORTING
REQUIREMENTS which states "Water quality detection monitoring shall continue for a
minimum for five years from the date of the Section's receipt of the owner/operator's notification
that the facility will be maintained in compliance with the post -closure conditions specified in this
letter"
Please contact the Section's Western Area Engineer at [phone] if there is
anything in the Closure Letter that is unclear or that the County has questions about. The Section
appreciates the County's cooperation during the Closure process and is available to answer any
questions that may arise during the post -closure period for the referenced facility.
