RE: Comments on Aquatic (Eco) Toxicology Studies

Dear Ms. Hughes,

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has reviewed Chemours’ Aquatic
(Eco) Toxicology Studies Protocols received on 12/04/20 and submitted pursuant to
paragraph 14 of the Consent Order. DEQ cannot approve the protocols at this time and
requests additional information in the attached document.

Chemours requested that master protocols be reviewed as a separate step in order to allow
the contract lab to plan other aspects of the work plan. DEQ has agreed to receive and
review the components of the work plan separately, and provides a list of items needed for
final approval of the work and commencement of the final studies (see attached document).

DEQ is open to a conference call to discuss any questions regarding these comments. We
can discuss the need for a conference call in the standing weekly call.
