The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: 01 - This facility was issued a Life of Site permit on August 4, 2015 and expires on October 11, 2025. 02 - Facility has adequate signage.
03 - Facility is secured by chain link fences and locking gates.
04 - Interior roads are made with all-weather construction. 05 - The Leachate drains at the Transfer Station were flowing into the leachate system during this inspection. 06 - The Leachate tanks (3) had adequate storage. 07 - Tyrone Sumler can call for a Septage hauler to come to the facility and pump out the tanks when high levels are reported. 08 - The Leachate tanks are in need of daily checking to prevent leachate drains from becoming clogged as was noted on the last inspection. 09 - Leachate system pump has been repaired/replaced. 10 - Tipping Floor was fairly full during this inspection. Empty trailers were getting low. 11 - No leaking trailers were noted during this inspection at the stored trailer area. 12 - Trailer #865 was full of waste (not leaking leachate at this time) and is in need of the rear door seal repaired. See attached picture. 13 -The was a leaking incoming load to this facility during this inspection. Need to repair door seal. See attached picture. 14 - There was no windblown trash during this inspection. 15 - Waste from this facility is permitted to be taken to Sampson Co. Disposal 8202-MSWLF-2000, East Carolina Regional Landfill, 0803-MSWLF-1993 and Brunswick Waste Management Facility, SWP 583 in Lawrenceville Va. 16 - Facility is permitted to receive waste from within, Duplin, Edgecombe, Franklin, Greene, Halifax, Johnston, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, North Hampton, Pitt, Wake, Wayne and Wilson Counties. 17 - Facility looked better than the last inspection. 18 - Covid-19 recommendations were followed on this inspection. 19 - Digital pictures were taken during this inspection and some are attached to this report.
