Box 1486 Morganton, NC 28680 RE: Burke County, Kirksey Drive Landfill Permit Number 12-01 Landfill Gas Monitoring Report Second Quarter of 2020 Project No. 2191321 Dear Mr. Champion: LaBella Associates (LaBella) is submitting the attached methane monitoring results for Kirksey Drive Landfill, Permit Number 12-01. The 2020 second quarter landfill gas monitoring event was performed on May 5, 2020. During this event, LaBella monitored gas probes GP-1, GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, GP-5, and GP-6, and two buildings (Burke County Animal Shelter and Friends for Animals building) in accordance with the animal shelters schedule. The approximate locations of the gas probes are depicted in Drawing 1. The monitoring data for the gas probes and buildings are summarized in the attached Landfill Gas Monitoring Data Log. Methane was detected above the lower explosive limit (LEL) in gas probes GP-3, GP-4, and GP-6. There were no detections and no exceedances in either the County Animal Shelter or the Friends for Animals building, or the remaining gas probes. These results are consistent with previous results. Methane detection and Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) exceedances are summarized in the attached Table 1 and Table 2. We have included a NCDEQ Environmental Monitoring Report Form (EMRF) and will forward a copy of this report to Jaclynne Drummond with the NCDEQ Solid Waste Section. A copy of this report should be maintained in the facility's records. The next quarterly monitoring event is scheduled for the third quarter of 2020. If we can provide any additional information, please do not hesitate to call me at (336) 323-0092.
