(S+G) is pleased to present this report regarding the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Avery County Closed MSW Landfill (Permit No. 06-01) Landfill Gas Collection and Control System (LFGCCS), and the perimeter monitoring probes for March 2020. Site details are provided below. '- XIIII �` �f I:. Wel I field and flare station data are provided in the attached Table 1. LFG Extraction Well Field cc W 1 through W 10: S+G performed methane (CH4), oxygen (a), carbon dioxide (COz), and pressure monitoring. Several wells had low or no available vacuum, which is assumed to be caused from the shutdown of the flare for maintenance during this visit. S+Gwill investigate if vacuum remains at these levels during the next monthly monitoring event and instruct the County on repairs as necessary. Flare Station During this site visit the flare was down for maintenance, so no flow readings at the flare were obtained. S+G performed monitoring of the perimeter LFG monitoring network during this event. Results of the monitoring event are included in Attachment 1, and the data indicate P-3 and P-7 had an exceedance of the LEL. The concentrations in each has gone down incrementally since a spike was observed in January. It is believed the methane concentration is dropping as a result of the reconnection of active collection at P-3 and P-7, following system maintenance performed during the January 2020 monitoring event. Monitoring of the current well network will continue, and data will be reported to NCDEQand the County. 1414211111lig In general, the landfill gas extraction system continues to operate nominally. S+G will continue to monitor the methane concentrations at the site monthly, and advise the County on repairs required to maintain an effective collection system.
