It'is my duty to inform you that the operation of the
Cherokee County Landfill is in violation of Section .0103 of
the Division of Health Services Solid Waste Management Rules.
On two consecutive inspections dated June 16 and August 5,
1980, four violations were recorded.
The violation of "Waste Restricted to the Smallest Area
Practicable" should be corrected by placing an attendant on
site at all times that the site is open to direct traffic to
a specific dumping area. This would also satisfy the violation
of "Attendant on Duty." This situation must be corrected immed-
iately.
The violation of "Six Inches Daily Cover" must be corrected
immediately by covering all waste at the end of each day's oper-
ation with six inches of compacted earth.
The violation of "Seeding of Completed Areas" must be
corrected by September 15, 1980 by properly seeding all completed
areas in accordance with recommendations from the Soil Conser-
vation Service or other qualified source.
We will reinspect this site on or soon after September 15,
1980, to insure compliance with the above mentioned times. If
we can be of technical assistance in these matters, please
notify us.
