The quarterly methane readings in landfill gas probe GP-5 during the last calendar year have shown consistent detections of the gas at concentrations above its regulated and permitted threshold, which is greater than methane's lower explosive limit (5%) at the property boundary, as summarized in Table 1. Table 1 Quarterly Methane Readings Date of Measurement Methane (%) Atmospheric Pressure (inches Hg) 11/16/18 15.9 28.03 02/07/19 19.4 27.98 05/08/19 12.9 28.02 08/07/19 17.1 27.73 Due to the consistent threshold exceedances, Madison County plans to refurbish the LFG interceptor trench that is currently present along the northwestern boundary of the facility extending northward from south of GP-5 then northeastward to of the vicinity of gas probe GP-6R. This trench was \\ashevillel\asheville\Projects\Madison County\Landfill Gas\2018 Landfill Gas NOV\Correspondence\201908 Letter to Drummond\20191017 Ltr to Drummond for reconstruct trenches.docx August 18, 2018 Page 2 installed at the facility in accordance with the Apparent Landfill Gas Compliance Limit Exceedence & Remediation submitted by McGill Associates, P.A., in May 2011. Madison County plans to reconstruct the trench in accordance with the original design as shown in Attachment A. Thank you for your time and consideration.
