May 16, 2019 Mr. Miles Champion Burke County General Services Director/County Engineer P.O. Box 1486 Morganton, NC 28680 RE: Burke County, East Burke Landfill, Permit Number 12-02 Landfill Gas Monitoring Report - Second Quarter of 2019 Project No. 2181871, Phase 05 Dear Mr. Champion: On behalf of Burke County, North Carolina, Labella Associates (LABELLA) is submitting the attached methane monitoring results for East Burke Landfill, Permit Number 12-02. The 2019 second quarter landfill gas monitoring event was performed on May 6, 2019. During this event, LABELLA monitored seven gas probes (GP-1, GP-113, GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, GP-5, and GP-6). The approximate locations of the gas probes are depicted in Drawing 1. The monitoring data for the gas probes and buildings are summarized in the attached Landfill Gas Monitoring Data Log. Methane was detected above the lower explosive limit (LEL) in gas probes GP-1, GP-3, and GP-4. No exceedances were recorded for any of the other probes. These detections and exceedances are consistent with previous results and are summarized in Table 1 and Table 2, respectively. We have included an EMRF and will forward a copy of this report to Jaclynne Drummond with the NCDEQ Solid Waste Section. This report should be added to the facility's records. The next quarterly monitoring event is tentatively scheduled for the third quarter of 2019. If we can provide any additional information, please do not hesitate to call me at (336) 323-0092.
