Re: 14-Day Notification of Groundwater Protection Standard Exceedance
January 2019 Semi -Annual Monitoring Event
Pitt County Municipal Solid Waste Landfill (MSWLF)
Dear Ms. Drummond,
On behalf of Pitt County, NC, Groundwater Management Associates, Inc. is submitting this 14-
Day Notification as required by North Carolina Solid Waste Management Regulation 15A NCAC
136 .1633 (c)(1) for the Southern Unit of the Pitt County MSWLF (Facility Permit # 74-01). A
14-Day Notification of Groundwater Protection Standard Exceedance(s) form is included as an
attachment to this letter report.
GMA is submitting this notification due to verified, initial exceedances of the Groundwater
Protection Standard (GWPS) for 1,4-dioxane. The Southern Unit of the Pitt County Landfill is
currently under assessment for low level exceedances of benzene, but 1,4-dioxane was
previously not being addressed as part of the assessment.
Laboratory analytical data and the Electronic Data Deliverable from the January 2019
monitoring event will be provided with the forthcoming semi-annual sampling report for Pitt
County MSWLF. Please call or email if you have any questions or require additional information.
Sincerely,
Groundwater Management Associates, Inc.
