No waste was received by the FGD Landfill during the most recent twelve month period. The FGD Landfill ceased receipt of waste on October 16, 2015. Since the landfill went into operation and through the most recent survey on May 8, 2018, approximately 1,110,731.54 cubic yards and 1,399,999 tons of waste have been disposed in the landfill. Please note that the increase in used airspace reported compared to last year’s report is due to soil being stockpiled on the landfill in preparation for closure activities. Closure activities for the FGD Landfill began late May 2018 and are anticipated to be complete by the end of calendar year 2018; therefore, this is anticipated to be the final annual report submittal for the landfill. As required by G.S. 130A-309.09D(b), the County Manager for any county that generated waste for disposal to this landfill is sent a copy of the Annual Report. Therefore, a copy of this Annual Report is being provided to the County Manager for Catawba County. If there are any questions regarding this report feel free to contact me at (704) 382-7171.
