District Manager – Closed Sites 1000 Parkwood Circle, Suite 700 Atlanta, GA 30339 RE: 2015 THIRD QUARTER LANDFILL GAS MONITORING PIEDMONT LANDFILL & RECYCLING CENTER JOYCE PROJECT NO. 392.1401.12, TASK 02 Dear Al: Attached to this letter is the landfill gas migration monitoring results for the Third Quarterly monitoring Event of 2015 at the Piedmont Landfill in Kernersville, North Carolina. Ten permanent gas probes, eighteen bar-hole probes, and one on-site structure were first monitored on August 25, 2015. Gas Probe GP-10 was exempted from the compliance monitoring network in a letter from North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Solid Waste Section dated January 21, 2014. There was no exceedence of the LEL in the compliance network or on-site structure. The results are presented on the NC DENR format Landfill Gas Monitoring Data Form dated August 25, 2015; however JOYCE was unable to fully access the WM Landfill Gas Management System (LGMS) on that date to upload the results. Therefore a second Landfill Gas Monitoring Data Form is attached that corresponds to readings taken on September 17, 2015, using the Piedmont’s LGMS IDs. The LFG monitoring results were uploaded to the LGMS on September 17th. The August results are included, as a precaution, in case the earlier August date was required for any reason to maintain compliance. The September 17, 2015, results are included as the Third Quarterly Monitoring Event results, and were data logged with LGMS IDs. NC DENR notification is not required at this time based on no detections of methane and no exceedences of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) in the compliance monitoring locations during the event. After reviewing the Historical Report generated by LGMS for September 17th, some errors were noted that could affect the project’s status on the LGMS. I have attached the Historical Report from the LGMS with highlights and comments in the far right column regarding corrections or deletions that should be made by a WM LGMS user with authorization to make manual updates on LGMS. Making the corrections will ensure that all monitoring locations will show that they have in fact been monitored on the LGMS Historical Report. A copy of this report should be kept on file for the facility. If you require anything else please let me know (336) 323-0092, or contact Mousa Maimoun at (704)-837-2005.
