Box 1486 Morganton, NC 28680 RE: Burke County, East Burke Landfill, Permit Number 12-02 Landfill Gas Monitoring Report – Fourth Quarter 2017 Project No. 2180009, Phase 04 Dear Mr. Champion; The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the results for the fourth quarter 2017 landfill gas monitoring event at the closed East Burke Landfill. Gas probes GP-1, GP-1B, GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, GP-5, and GP-6 were monitored on December 14, 2017. During the December 2017 monitoring event, methane was detected above the lower explosive limit (LEL) in gas probes GP-1, GP-3, and GP-4. Note that no methane was detected in GP-1B, which is between GP-1 and the property boundary. No exceedances were recorded for any of the other probes. These results are consistent with previous results. Tables 1 and 2 summarize the methane detections and exceedances for this event, and the attached Landfill Gas Monitoring Log presents the more detailed results. A site map showing the gas probe locations is also attached. We have included an EMRF and will forward a copy of this report to Jaclynne Drummond with the NCDEQ Solid Waste Section. This report should be added to the facility’s records. The next quarterly monitoring event is tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of 2018. If we can provide any additional information, please do not hesitate to call me at (336) 323-0092. Sincerely, JOYCE ENGINEERING Van Burbach, Ph.D., P.G.
