FACILITY COMPLIANCE INSPECTION REPORT Division of Waste Management Solid Waste Section Page 2 of 2 ADDITIONAL COMMENTS 1. The Septage Land Application Site consists of Field 1 (2.1 acres) and Field 2 (1.2 acres) for a total of 3.6 usable acres. 2. The site is permitted for land application of domestic septage. 3. The site had accessible all-weather roads to the septage land application field covered under the permit. 4. Appropriate signage was displayed at the site. 5. Both fields had disposal area boundaries that were well delineated with permanent markers. 6. All septage discharges appear to have been made within the disposal area boundary. No recent septage application were observed. 7. No evidence of standing liquid or pooled waste was observed. The waste appeared to be evenly distributed throughout the field. 8. No objectionable odors were observed. 9. As a reminder, the nutrient management plan states: Harvest of the crops and their use: 1. The fescue/bermudagrass on each field will be cut as hay and baled when it reaches approximately 12 inches in height, or about every 4-6 weeks beginning in June. Approximately three or four harvests can be expected. 2. The ryegrass will be cut and baled in March and April. 3. Septage application and mowing and baling will be rotated between Field #1 and Field #2. The hay will be cut after waiting 30 days from the last septage application. The hay will be fed to beef cattle. 10. During a future inspection, an accurate measurement will need to be taken of Field 2 to determine compliance with buffer requirements and, if necessary the field boundary adjusted.
