OBSERVED VIOLATIONS:
1. 15A NCAC 13B .0844 (b) states: “All permitted septage management firms shall display decals or lettering on
each side of every pumper vehicle operated by the firm. The decals or lettering shall include the name, address
(town name), phone number, and septage management firm permit number. All decals or lettering on the
pumper vehicle shall be no less than three inches in height and plainly visible. Identification shall be
permanently attached (i.e., no removable signs).
A Sani-Can Service, Inc. was in violation of 15A NCAC 13B .0844 (b) because on November 15, 2017 it was
observed that one pumper vehicles had been placed into service without the required company phone number and
another was missing the address and the name was unreadable.
In order to come into compliance, submit a photograph of the vehicles with the corrected lettering to:
troy.harrison@ncdenr.gov by December 1, 2017. The photograph should clearly show, using a ruler, that the
lettering is the required 3 inches in height or greater. In addition, if you have other vehicles that haul septage that
are not properly lettered, please do so as soon as possible in preparation for a follow-up inspection.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
The inspection was conducted at A Sani-Can Service, Inc. 8151 Webbs Road, Denver, Lincoln County.
1. The following firm trucks were inspected:

2. The tanks appeared to be structurally sound and bolted to the frame.
3. Valves and access ports appeared to be secure. Caps were present on the access ports.
4. The trucks were properly marked in accordance with the lettering requirements with the exception of Vehicle
#218 which was missing the phone number on both sides and Vehicle #32 was missing most of the company
name and the address; in addition, the phone number was worn and faded.
5. No leaks were observed.

administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.
