Subject: Gas Collection Project Authorization
Iredell County MSW Landfill Facility
Iredell County, Permit No. 4903-MSWLF-1993, Document ID No. 28520
Mr. Lambert,
The Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section (Section) has completed a review of
your request to modify the gas collection system (DIN 28489) at the above referenced facility.
The request was submitted on your behalf by Municipal Engineering Services Company, P.A. and
was received in the Asheville Regional Office on September 22, 2017.
The project, as described, involves the addition of a 12” PVC gas collection line around MSW
Phase 5 which would tie in to the existing 16” gas line providing gas for the generator.
Additionally, well heads and sump pumps will be installed in the cleanouts to pump condensate to
the existing leachate sumps. The 2” PVC condensate line, along with a 1” air line for the pumps,
will be installed in the same trench as the gas collection line. Based on this review, the Section
authorizes the gas collection system modifications as described. Any substantial changes to the
project must be reviewed and approved by the Section prior to implementation. Please update the
relevant plans and drawings to include these changes to the gas collection system. The updated
plans and drawings will be added to the List of Documents for the Approved Plan in your Permit
at the next permitting activity.
If you should have any questions regarding this matter please contact me at (828) 296-4703, or
by email at allen.gaither@ncdenr.gov .
Sincerely,
Allen Gaither
